Governors to hold 6th teleconference meeting on COVID-19 Wednesday

Four State Governors with prevalent personal or number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country would on Wednesday share their experiences with other Governors in tomorrow’s meeting of their umbrella group, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).

The meeting, which would be coordinated from their headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, will be conducted through teleconferencing, a sign of the times.

The meeting will be the sixth teleconference meeting for the Governors since the upsurge of COVID-19 pandemic the country.

While the Governors of Lagos and Ogun had early experiences in managing the pandemic, Governors of Bauchi and Oyo States.

NGF Head of Media and Public Affairs, Malam Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, said in a statement that the meeting will offer the State chief executives the opportunity to review the COVID-19 situation so far and the various measures taken by States governments to contain it.

The statement further said that the National Economic Council ad-hoc committee and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 are also expected to make presentations before the Governors at the Wednesday meeting.

“The meeting which starts at 2 pm will also deliberate on palliatives to the most vulnerable in society and how the Federal and State governments are collaborating on the pandemic and the type of assistance that the president will be rendering to states,” the NGF statement added.
