Update: Nigeria records 196 new cases of COVID-19, total now 1,728

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday night announced 196 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,728.

The NCDC also announced that 52 recoveries and seven deaths were recorded in Nigeria on Wednesday and that one new State, Yobe reported Index Case of COVID-19.

According to NCDC in its Twitter handle, “196 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 87-Lagos, 24-Kano, 18-Gombe, 17-Kaduna, 16-FCT, 10-Katsina, 8-Sokoto, 7-Edo, 6-Borno, 1-Yobe, 1-Ebonyi, 1-Adamawa. As at 11:55pm 29th April- 1,728 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 307 Discharged and 51 Deaths.

“Till date, 1,728 cases have been confirmed, 307 cases have been discharged and 51 deaths have been recorded in 34 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”

“The 196 new cases are reported from twelve states- Lagos (87), Kano (24), Gombe (18), Kaduna 17), FCT (16), Katsina (10), Sokoto (8), Edo (7), Borno (6), Ebonyi (1), Yobe (1), Adamawa1.

“For a breakdown of confirmed cases by States, as at 11:55pm 29th April, Lagos State currently, had 931, FCT-174, Kano-139, Ogun-50 Osun-34, Gombe-64, Katsina-40, Borno-59, Edo-37, Oyo-21, Kwara-11, Akwa Ibom-12, Bauchi-29, Kaduna-27, Ekiti-8, Ondo-8, Delta-7, Rivers-7, Jigawa-7, Enugu-3, Niger-2, Abia-2, Zamfara-4, Sokoto-27, Benue-1, Anambra-1, Adamawa-2, Plateau-1, Imo-1, Taraba 8, Bayelsa 1, Ebonyi 2, Kebbi 1, Nasarawa-1, Yobe 1”
