Professor Agaie, Veterinary Medical Association President, dies in Sokoto of COVID-19 complications

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which is wrecking havoc on the academia continued its trail of death on Tuesday with the death of the President of the National Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) Professor Bello Mohammad Agaie.

Until his death, Agaie was a Professor of Pharmacology at the Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.

He was also a Prince of Agaie Kingdom in Niger State where the father was an Emir.

Before his death, the dreaded disease had taken the lives of seven Professors in Kano State alone.

Dr Daminabo Gloria, the Publicity Secretary of NVMA, the umbrella body of all Nigerian veterinary doctors, said in a statement that Professor Agaie was an inspirational leader.

The statement read:

“The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) regrets to announce the passing on of her National President, Professor Bello Mohammed Agaie, an inspirational leader per excellence devoted to the advancement of the Veterinary Profession.

“The No. 1 Veterinarian in Nigeria passed on today May 12, 2020. His relentless service to the profession and humanity will forever be remembered.

“May God accept his soul, and comfort his family and the entire members of the Veterinary Profession in Nigeria.”
