Abia leads in new COVID-19 infections of 260, bringing total to 12,486

Nigeria on Sunday announced 260 new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 12,486.

Nigeria Center For Disease Control (NCDC) said on Sunday through its official Twitter handle.that out of the 12,846 confirmed cases, 12 deaths were recorded, bringing the total number to 354.

In addition, 3,959 patients have been treated and discharged.

The health agency stated that the confirmed cases, discharged and deaths were recorded in 35 of Nigeria’s 36 Stes and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NCDC statistics shows that this is the first time that a State outside Lagos and Kano is leading the tally on the total number of new infections with Abia getting the highest number of 67, followed by the FCT (40) and then Lagos (38), the epicentre of the virus outbreak in Nigeria.

Other States with new infections include Ogun(19), Gombe(16), Edo(14), Imo(9), Kwara(8), Katsina(8), Nasarawa(8), Borno(8), Kaduna(6), Bauchi(5), Ekiti(4), Niger(2), Ondo(2), Plateau(2), Kano(2),Sokoto(2).
