  • Agriculture Is The Solution To Nigeria’s Economic Problems – Uzodimma

“Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has disclosed that the State will be donating acres of land to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for the purposes of Grazing Reserves.

“The Governor made this known on Friday in Abuja when he paid a visit to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, in his office.

“The Governor revealed that Imo State has keyed into the Agricultural Programs spearheaded by the Development Finance Department of the CBN.

“The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved the disbursement of about N75billion as loan to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing in Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL).

“This is in addition to the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF), which has a prescribed fund of 50 Billion Naira.

“Governor Uzodimma stated that the donation of the massive amount of lands to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture is a strategic move geared towards ensuring that Imo State will massively benefit from the extensive Agricultural programs of the Federal Government.

“In his remarks, the CBN Governor commended Governor Uzodimma for his foresight and his efforts so far, while urging Imo people to remain steadfast and invest more in Agriculture.

“Emefiele went on to add that the loan guarantee scheme is a public-private sector initiative set up to transform the country’s agricultural sector, in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s plans to diversify the economy.

“The Grazing Reserves according to His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma will be located at Ngor Okpala, Okigwe and Ideato North LGAs respectively.

“Officials from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture are expected to arrive Owerri in the week on an inspection tour.”
