A Minnesotan Trump supporter has been accused of attacking an elderly couple with a golf club after he saw them at a street corner with a homemade Biden sign.

Mark Anthony Ulsaker, 50, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, making threats of violence and assaulting a peace officer, court documents show.

Multiple people called 911 on Sunday after seeing a man attack the couple in White Bear Lake on the intersection of Highway 96 and Centerville Road before driving away, according to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court on Tuesday.

The attack came just 24 hours after multiple news networks announced that Joe Biden had beaten President Donald Trump to the White House in a hotly contested presidential election. Mark Anthony Ulsaker, 50, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, making threats of violence and assaulting a peace officer after attacking and elderly couple with a golf club and attempting to hit a police officer while resisting arrest

Police went to Ulsaker’s home after witnesses provided the vehicle’s license plate number.

The complaint said the Ulsaker resisted arrest and attempted to hit an officer. He was then Tasered and taken into custody. The officer reportedly received injuries to his thumb in the scuffle.

The couple reportedly told responding officers that they were just sitting on the street corner with their sign on Sunday afternoon when a man stopped his red truck and shouted ‘f*** you!’.

The woman, 78, and man, 80, ignored the insult but just a moment later, the man was approaching them with a golf club, local media WCCO-TV reported.

During a police interview, Ulsaker identified himself as a Trump supporter and said he had gotten upset when he saw the elderly couple holding a sign in support of president-elect Joe Biden.

He admitted to kicking the sign over and swinging his golf club at the pair, according to the complaint.

He said that his golf club broke when it struck the chair the woman was sitting in and that he then pushed her over, police said in their report.

Ulsaker said the man then came towards him so he punched him in the head, the complaint stated.

Witnesses told investigators that the man then headed to his pickup truck, which was parked in a nearby Walgreens, according to WCCO-TV.

The elderly woman gave chase but when she approached the truck, it drove towards her, mounting the curb before speeding off down Centerville Road.

WCCO-TV reported that Ulsaker admitted to driving his pickup truck over the curb in an attempt to scare the woman, but claimed he had no intention of running her over.

He also reportedly admitted that he had ‘swung a little’ at the arresting officer.

Ulsaker, a Lino Lakes resident, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of all the counts against him. A hearing is scheduled for November 23.

It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney and he has not spoken publicly about the incident.

The attack came just a day after Biden was announced as the winner of the presidential election after a tense days-long wait for votes to be counted.

Trump has yet to concede and has repeatedly claimed voter fraud without producing any evidence to support the accusations.
