7 killed, 13 houses and two shops burnt in bandits’ attack on Gora Gan, Southern Kaduna

Seven persons were killed in an attack by bandits in Gora Gan community of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday night.

Security agencies, including the military and Nigeria Police who are carrying out Internal Security Operations (ISO) in parts of Southern Kaduna area of the State said the Gora Gan community came under attack on Thursday night from several fronts, including the market area and houses stretching towards the Tudun Wada area.

In a statement Friday signed by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, stated that the troops repelled the attackers, stabilized the general area and retrieved corpses of seven persons; Peter Akaho, Ayuba Steven Sheyin, Jummai Ayuba, Ishaya Joel, Yakubu Saviour, Ayuba Goodluck and Patience Ayuba.

He added that 13 houses and two shops were burnt in the attack, saying the troops are trailing the attackers.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who described the killings as barbaric and inhuman, directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to take inventory of the damages incurred and provide relief materials with immediate effect.

The Kaduna State Government also directed an investigation into the report of sporadic shooting on the Fadan Kagoma-Kwoi Road in Jema’a local government where a driver was shot, but has now been stabilized.

On 15th November, 2020, the District Head of Gidan Zaki, in Atyap Chiefdom, Mr Haruna Kuye, was murdered along with his 9-year-old son, Destiny Haruna, while his wife and daughter survived with severe injuries.
