Nigeria conducts 1,018,061 COVID-19 tests, confirmed cases set to hit 100,000

Nigeria has so far conducted 1,018,061 Coronavirus (COVID-19) sample tests as confirmed cases is set to hit the 100,000 mark.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said via its verified Twitter handle that with the new infections of 1,585 recorded in Nigeria on Saturday, total confirmed cases since the index case was reported on February 27, 2020 is now 99,063

With 79,417 so far been discharged and discharged from hospitals and various isolation centres, and 1,350 deaths, Nigeria has 18,296 undergoing treatment.

Since January 4, 2021, Nigeria’s daily new infections have escalated above the 1,000 mark with 1,271 registered on that day.

On January 5, it was 1,354 new infections, the highest single day new infections of 1,664 on January 6, 1,565 on January 7 and 1,544 on January 8.

Out of the 1,350 new infections reported from the States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos registered 573, FCT (182), Plateau (162), Gombe (81), Oyo (75), Rivers (68), Sokoto (58), Ondo (55), Ogun (42), Nasarawa (40), Akwa Ibom (36), Edo (31), Kaduna (27), Anambra (22), Delta (19), and Kano (17).

Others include Osun (17), Ebonyi (16), Katsina (14), Niger (14), Bayelsa (9), Ekiti (8), Borno (7), Jigawa (5), Abia (4), and Bauchi (3).
