Bandits abduct 11 family members as they invade Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria staff quarters in Kaduna

Bandits invaded the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) staff quarters in Kaduna in the early hours of Saturday and abducted 11 persons from two families.

Sources said the bandits breached the security of the quarters through the perimeter fence, resulting in gunshots throughout the morning as security agents engaged the bandits. But they still later made away with their victims.

A pilot who lives in the FAAN quarters said that though communities around the quarters have faced increasing security challenges, with abductions taking place frequently, this is the first time the gunmen breached the quarters or any of the airport authority property.

He said a member of staff of FAAN with his wife and four children were abducted, while five others were kidnapped from another family within the quarters.

“I can’t say whether they came on motorcycles or not, but we know that they came through the air perimeter fence. Right now there are security agents all over the area and we are trying to get all the details,” he said.

But Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to calls and a text message sent to him on the incident.
