Identify bandits, kidnappers, their sponsors, take them out of circulation, Buhari orders Defence, security chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari meet with the National Security Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with a new order to the nation’s defence and security chiefs to identify all bandits and kidnappers, including their sponsors, and take them out of circulation.

President Buhari also warned the leaders of his security team that a situation where bandits and kidnappers were dictating the pace and direction of the fight against insecurity will no longer be tolerated.

National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), told journalists at the end of the National Security Council meeting quoted President Buhari as lamenting that a situation where Defence and security forces are reactive rather than than being proactive will no longer stand.

In addition, General Monguno, said President Buhari insisted that there has been no change in the decisions approved at the National Security Council meeting last month including a ban on mining activities in Zamfara as well as no fly zone.

He said they are still in force in order to curb the rising insecurity in the Northwest region State of Zamfara.
