Bandits kill 3, kidnap 12 in attack on Kwankwashe community, Suleja LGA of Niger State, near Abuja

  • Kwankwashe, Suleja LGA shares boundary with Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja

Bandits killed three people and abducted 12 others as they invaded the Kwankwashe community in Suleja Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State.

Among the dead was a six-year-old child and two other people.

Sources said that a number of children were among those abducted by the bandits.

Kwankwashe community in Suleija LGA is the closest to Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through Abuja’s major tourists attraction landmark, Zuma Rock, oftentimes referred to as “Gateway to Abuja from Suleja.”

The attack, which occurred on Wednesday night, caught the neighbouring community in FCT, Mandala by surprise as they were shocked when they heard gunshots in the middle of the night, making everyone scamper for safety.

It was said that the bandits broke into different houses in the community and abducted people who were not fast enough to run away during the raid.

Sources in the community said the abductors are yet to contact the families of those abducted but they have reported the case to the security agencies.

It was gathered that this was not the first time bandits would attack communities in Suleja.

The majority of the attacks were not being reported as the media focus mainly on Shiroro, Munya and Rafi local government areas of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the State command (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, was unavailable to confirm the report as calls and messages sent to him were not answered and replied respectively.
