Protest have erupted again on Monday in yantumaki, Dan Musa Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria, as angry youths of the community express their displeasure against incessant killings and kidnappings by bandits in the area.

The protests in Yantumaki also spilled to other villages along Dutsinma road with the Dutsinma road blocked.

The Yantumaki, Dan Musa LGA is one of the major epicentre of insecurity in the State.

Last June, protesting youths burnt the billboards of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as violence erupted in over insecurity in the area.

Hundreds of the youths had taken to the streets where they burnt tires and chanted vulgar songs following the abduction of a man, Mansir Yusuf and his daughter at Yantumaki community.

The bandits kidnappers had stormed the community on motorcycles and headed straight to the victim’s home, where they forced their way in and abducted the two persons.

But what angered the youths and many residents was that those abducted were neighbours with the late District Head of Yantumaki, Atiku Maidabino, who was killed by bandits a week ago before.

Maidabino, whose security guard sustained injuries from gunshot wounds survived.

The youths were said to have complained about the frequent attacks, even as they called for a lasting solution that would stop banditry and related activities in their community.

A spokesman for police command in the state, SP Gambo Isah is yet to respond to an inquiry made on the issue at the time of this report.

In his condolence message during the burial of the district head of Yantumaki, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Maidabino, the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa lamented over the unfortunate incident that claimed the life of the district head.

He described the deceased as a peace loving gentleman, selfless and hardworking leader who contributed immensely to lasting peace in his domain and the state.

Inuwa said his demise was an irreparable loss not only to the immediate family, Yantumaki district or Danmusa Local Government, but Katsina State in general.

He assured that the perpetrators of the dastardly act will be made to face the consequences.

But till date, no arrest has been made in connection with the killing of the district head.
