Major highways, markets shut in bid to stem terrorists attacks, kidnapping in Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria

In a bid to tackle insecurity occasioned by killings, destruction of property and kidnapping, the Katsina State government, Northwest Nigeria, has taken some stringent measures including shutting of roads and major markets across the State.

Such measures include the total closure of the Jibia-Gurbin Baure road and the Kankara-Sheme road to all commercial motorists.

Though the closure of the roads affects only commercial transport vehicles, commuters in private vehicles can ply the roads but should expect some disruptions and delays on the roads because of the multiple security checkpoints.

The new measures are contained in an executive order, tagged “Security Challenges Containment Order” signed by the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari.
