Terrorists fleeing Zamfara State NAF, Army bombardments kill 6, abduct many in Sokoto

Terrorists escaping the current Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aerial and Army ground bombardments in Zamfara state have killed six persons and abducted several other in Tureta Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State.

Tureta shares a border with Zamfara State where the military operation is taking place. It is also affected by the current shutdown of telecommunication network in the neighbouring state.

Sources confirmed that many people injured during the terrorists invasion and are receiving treatment in a hospital.

The source said that the terrorists raided the area around 2am on Thursday and deceived unsuspecting members of the community using Muslim’s call for prayer.

“The residents started coming out, thinking it was a time for a dawn prayer and the bandits started shooting at them.

“They killed six, injured many and abducted several others. The entire area is in shock and some of the residents have started relocating to other places,” our source said.

The Deputy Governor of Sokoto, Maniru Dan’iya, who visited the area condoled them over the incident and reiterated their commitment to end banditry in the state.

He also said that the state government would foot the medical bills of the injured.
