Traditional rulers of Okwudor, Ihebinowere shot dead by ‘Unknown Gunmen’ in Njaba LGA, Imo State, Southeast Nigeria

The spectre of violence has desecrated the traditional institution in Imo State as ‘Unknown Gunmen’ struck at a stakeholders meeting, killing two members of the Imo State Traditional Rulers Council.

The two monarchs were killed at the venue of a traditional rulers stakeholders meeting at Nnenasa, headquarters of Njaba Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State.

The two traditional rulers who died on the spot were Eze E. A Durueburuo (Obi I of Okwudor) and Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebinowere autonomous community.

Sources said that an unspecified number of traditional rulers at the meeting sustained various levels of injuries.

The Spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command, Mike Abattam, who confirmed the incident, said that two monarchs were confirmed dead on the spot while the wounded have been taken to hospital for treatment.
