Nigeria: Sultan of Sokoto rewards Keke rider who returned forgotten N500k with same amount

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has rewarded a tricycle rider, popularly called Keke Akilu Haruna Ahmad, who returned a forgotten bag containing N500,000 to its owner in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

The Sultan, represented by the Emir of Wase and Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Jos, Alhaji Sambo Haruna, presented a N500,000 cash to the tricycle rider during the inauguration of the State’s new executives of JNI at the Jos Central Mosque.

Sultan Sa’ad said the tricycle rider exhibited the real teachings of Islam, describing what he did as a good gesture that every Muslim was expected to practice.

He said, “People should be reminded that there is always a reward for doing good. We are proud of this young man who has brought Islam and youths in Plateau to positive limelight.”

The Emir of Wase on his part said, “Having discovered that it was true, the Sultan sent an equal amount of N500,000 to be given to Malam Akilu as a reward for his good deed.”

After receiving the cash gift, Malam Akilu said: “I am happy to have been honoured by the sultan. It is an unexpected reward, and I pray Allah will reward and strengthen him.”

It would be recalled that in 2017, Sultan Sa’ad similarly rewarded a tricycle rider, Bashir Usman, who returned a bag containing N582,400 to the owner, Mama Ijimah, a trader in Jos.
