ISIS beefs up ISWAP terrorism in Northeast Nigeria with 200 fighters from Libya and Syria, set for major attacks

Buoyed by the appointment of new leader for the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists’ group, Sani Shuwaram, the Headquarters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), is reinforcing terrorists operations in Nigeria’s Northeast region with the arrival of 200 mercenaries from Libya and Syria.

Sources noted that the little-known Sani Shuwaram, who replaced Aba-Ibrahim that was appointed by Abu-Mosab Albarnawi’s Interim Committee following a directive from Headquarters ISIS in August 2021, arrived Sabon Tumbu with the mercenaries, from their bases in Libya and Syria.

Shuwaram is the fifth recognized ISWAP figure by ISIS Central, after Mamman Nur, Abu Mosab Albarnawwy, Abbah-Gana, Abu-Dawud a.k.a Abu Hafsat Al-Ansari and Aba-Ibrahim.

Sources confirmed that with the new battle-tested infusion of terrorists from Libya and Syria, the ISIS group is planning to launch attacks on communities in Borno State, Northeast, Nigeria especially Baga, Malam Fatori and Marte.

Sources who confirmed the arrival of the mercenary terrorists at Sabon Tumbu said they were seen observing Jummat prayers on Friday.

In addition to the provision of more fighters with battlefield experience, sources also said ISIS is providing logistic support to ISWAP in the planned attacks at Baga, Marte and Malam Fatori, as well as in other locations.

The planned offensives are said to be part of a grand plan by ISIS to take over some identified strong holds in the Northeast region of Nigeria to further its expansionist global and regional agenda.

Already, reports indicated that ISWAP was moving military uniforms purchased from Libya into Nigeria as part of plans to clothe the terrorists.

According to Eons Intelligence, “the Federal Government is therefore urged to act fast in order to stop what security experts have described as the restructuring of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Nigeria.

“The group is desperate in its plans to expand their territories in Nigeria. The Nigerian Government cannot afford to be complacent on this one.”
