60 worshipers kidnapped from Kakau Daji, Kaduna State church regain freedom after one month in captivity, payment of ransom

The 60 members of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Kaduna, kidnapped by terror bandits on October 31, 2021 have regained freedom, after the payment of ransom contributed by family and church.

The bandits had stormed the church during its Sunday service, shot dead one worshiper and abducted about 60 members.

A few days later, the bandits killed three of the victims, leaving two critically injured after demanding ransom.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)’s Chairman, Kaduna State Chapter, Rev Joseph John Hayab, who confirmed their release on Saturday, said other nine people abducted at a different village were also released alongside the church worshippers on Friday evening.

He did not disclose whether ransom was paid before their release, but said the church told him that they were released and taken to a barrack by soldiers.

“Yes, the Kakau Daji church members have been released according to the Church last night and the Church told us that they played a vital role; so I commend them for that,” he said.
