Nigeria: Seven gunned down in Pinau Market, Wase LGA, Plateau State

Some terror bandits have invaded Pinau Market in Pinau community, Wase Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, killing seven and injuring many others.

Sources said that the bandits struck while the market was bubbling with activities on Sunday evening.

Earlier, on December 8, Daily Trust reported how residents of the some villages complained over the influx of bandits in some of the villages of Wase LGA, alleging that that there were informants within communities working with the bandits.

Shapi’i Sambo, who is the Wase youth leader, confirmed the latest attack, describing the incident as unfortunate.

The youth leader narrated that the gunmen stormed the market and started shooting sporadically.

Another source lamented that in the last 10 days, bandits have abducted many people in the area and collected millions of naira as ransom.

He said, “The collect ransom in millions. Sometime they collect N2 million and sometime N5 millions. Last three days, they collected N5million before releasing a man whom they abducted some days back.”

Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, did not respond to calls and SMS when our correspondent tried to reach him over the development.
