Nigeria: Pirates attack vessel on Bayelsa State waters

Pirates on Monday attacked a vessel in Brass, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

Sources said that the vessel, boarded in 03 11 41 N, 007 49 02 E, approximately 115 NM SE of Brass, was attacked on Monday December 13 around 2.30pm.

The attack comes exactly one week after pirates kidnapped one official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel and four civilians attached to the kitchen contractor working with Conoil Plc located in Koluama 1 of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

On Sunday November 28, pirates attacked two vessels in Baylesa, kidnapping not less than seven oil workers and shooting two staff of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company and a personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps dead.

The attack on two vessels occurred around 5.30am in Okoroma and Ogbokiri-Akassa communities of Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas (LGAs).
