Insecurity: General Irabor tasks entertainers, celebrities to promote unity, peace

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, on Tuesday called on celebrities and influencers in the Nigeria entertainment industry to use their arts as tools for promoting societal ideals like unity, peace, prosperity and national security. 

General Irabor, who spoke at Defence Headquaters in a meeting with select group of artists that although security is the responsibility of every citizen, celebrities and entertainers need to do more as pseudo ambassadors, whose actions and inactions sway public opinion to different directions from time to time. 

“As such, media personalities are critical stakeholders and a vital component in bringing security issues to bear in order to positively influence public perceptions on contemporary security challenges”, he said.

General Irabor said citizens participation and collaborations would further complement the efforts of the Country’s Armed Forces and other Security Agencies, whose responsibility it is to ensure security of lives and property of every citizen. 

“We want to win you over to be on the same page with us for better understanding of security generally”, the CDS also stated. 

He urged the celebrities to take advantage of their immense influence, arts and platforms to build a secured and prosperous country.
