Nigeria: Fleeing bandits chase Abuja, FCT-based Tiv farmers, abduct 2

Residents of Rafindaji community in Gulida chiefdom in the Abaji Area Council of the FCT have been thrown into panic as fleeing bandits chased away farmers working on their farms and abducted two villagers.

A resident of the community, Danlami Ishaku, while narrating the incident, gave the names of the abducted victims as Ezikel Tsenongu and Clement Ubun, who, he said, are Tiv farmers, who reside in neighboring Rafindaji community.

He said the two victims were abducted on Sunday around 4:34 pm while returning from a neighboring Madani village on motorcycle where they went to visit their kinsmen.

“The two men, who are farmers, were returning from Madani village when they rammed into the bandits and they were immediately whisked away at gunpoint,” he said.

He said the bandits who were in their large numbers, moved near Gulida community on Monday morning and chased away farmers that were working on their farms.

The village head of Gulida chiefdom, Sadauna Abubakar, while speaking with our reporter, confirmed the abduction of the two Tiv farmers by some fleeing bandits in the area.

“I was in Abaji, along with some members of my chiefdom, where I went to report the kidnap incident to the council chairman when another call came in that some suspected bandits have chased away some farmers at their farms,” he said.

He said had reported the incidents to the Council authorities.

When contacted, the Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, said the incident was not reported at the Command headquarters.
