Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have attacked a Nigerian Army base in Marte, located near the shores of Lake Chad, Borno State, killing not less than 10 soldiers.
Source confirmed that the terrorists in invading the base, rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the military post, killing 10 troops. The terrorists also reportedly captured several Military vehicles before razing down the facility,
Another group of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists had on Monday night stormed Komdi village in the Damboa LGA of Borno, looting several shops and setting houses ablaze.
But the terrorists, who invaded the Damboa community around 5pm on motorcycles, shooting sporadically, creating tension and pandemonium amongst residents, met their match as the troops engaged them in heavy gun battle, forcing them to retreat.
The Damboa invasion came two months after troops foiled a Boko Haram attack on the town on October 30, 2021 in which they killed two Mobile Policemen (Mopol), setting their head office located in the town ablaze with three operational vehicles.
The attack was met with heavy resistance by the Mobile Police who engaged the insurgents in a gun battle. The assailants, who stormed the community in eight gun trucks, overpowered the security personnel and killed two of them in the ensuing shootout.
