Nigerian Group, IVLP, Marks Martin Luther King Jr Day In Abuja on Saturday

The US-Nigeria Educational and Cultural Leadership Programme Alumni Association (IVLP Alumni) will on Saturday carry out a Youth and Leadership Enlightenment Programme to commemorate the birthday of the late civil rights activist, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.

The event which will hold in Damagaza community, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is aimed at conscientizing people, especially the youths, on responsible and exemplary behaviour in the public space and against the background of the coming elections in 2023.

With theme, “Leadership is Personal; it starts with me,” it will have as Guest Speaker is Mr. Fred Ohwahwa, a former editor of The Guardian on Sunday.

According to a statement by Evelyn Oyilo, National Publicity Secretary of IVLP Alumni Association, to lead community members to the event is His Royal Highness, Joseph Budebo  JP while a goodwill message is expected from the American Embassy in Nigeria.

President of the association, Hajia Raheemat Momodu, said the programme is part of a series of events the association is embarking upon in the build up of to the next general elections.

She said: “It is the duty of all us to build a better society. And one of the key way of doing this enlightening the people at various levels. We intend to do this at various times in the course of the year.”
