Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Plunge to 29 New Infections, Zero Death on Saturday

Nigeria on Saturday recorded a new low of 29 infections of Coronavirus and zero death, the lowest since the fourth wave of the virus began last year.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 251,959.

The death toll from the virus stands at 3,124 with 22,889 active cases while 225,946 were treated and discharged.

Altogether, 3,992,486 have been tested of the virus in Nigeria.

Since the index case of COVID-19 was registered on February 27, 2020, Nigeria recorded the highest daily new infection of 4,035 on December 22, 2021.

On April 14, 2020, Nigeria recorded 30 new infections. But between June 12-18 2021, Nigeria recorded below 18 new infections par day, with seven recorded on June 13 and eight on June 12.

Statistics from the website of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows that the 29 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in 36 States of the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

They include Lagos (27), Kano (1) and Rivers (1).

The NCDC said on its website that “a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities.”
