Nigerian Navy Kill 1, Arrest 4 Suspected IPOB/ESN Fighters at Naval Checkpoint, Uga Junction, Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State

The Nigerian Navy on Tuesday killed a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Eastern Security Network (ESN) member and arrested four others at the popular Uga junction, Ogbaru (LGA) of Anambra State.

Sources said that the Nigerian Navy personnel intercepted the gunmen at about 3.30 pm on Monday where they were trying to enforce the sit-at-home order by some groups within the IPOB organisation at Uga Junction, which is opposite the Onitsha Pharmaceutical Drugs Bridge Head Market.

The source noted that “the incident occurred when the Navy personnel responded to the sporadic shootings of suspected members of IPOB/ESN group near the Navy checkpoint..”

Items recovered from the gunmen include a Nissan SUV with Anambra State registration number, GGD 392 RZ, two locally made pistols, two matchets, two hammers and nine GSM handsets.”
