A witness confirmed that Abubakar, who is into selling mobile phones at Farm Centre, was rescued by his brother when he sighted him drinking the poison.

He said, “Immediately he saw him, he rushed, and with the help of people nearby, they were able to snatch the bottle of insecticide known as ota piya piya from him.”

Speaking immediately after he was rescued, Abubakar said he took the decision as he could not imagine life without her.

He said, “I was told that she is about to marry and that someone, not me, has already sent his parents to discuss the matter with her parents. That was why I decided to do this so that I won’t see the day.”
