Armed Men Invade MSF Base in Fotokol, Northern Cameroon, Kidnap 5 Workers

Armed men have invaded the base of the international humanitarian group, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) or Doctors Without Borders in Cameroon´s Far North, kidnapping five members of staff, the organization´s local branch said Friday.

Boko Haram and the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) are known to launch attacks in the Cameroonian region that lies between Nigeria and Chad.

MSF Cameroon said that “overnight Thursday into Friday, armed men broke into the organization´s base in Fotokol and abducted five people.”

It said neither the identity nor the motives of the perpetrators are known at this time.
