Enstranged Policeman Shoots Father-in-law, 6 Policemen, Another To Death in Maiduguri, Northeast Nigeria

A Police Sergeant, identified as Mr Bello, turned murderous on Friday, shooting to death his father-in-law and six Mobile Policemen in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Northeast Nigeria.

The incensed Policeman also killed another civilian whose identity has not been given. He also set on fire two blocks of eight rooms at the Police College Quarters of the State Police Command.

Sources said the Policemen overpowered Sergeant Bello and is being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Maiduguri.

The source noted that the Policemen, who was obviously frustrated, had a disagreement with his wife who packed her things out of his house and that all efforts by his neighbours to settle the rift with his wife were unsuccessful.

The source noted that that the angry Policeman then embarked on a spree of shooting which claimed the lives of the six policemen and his father in law and another civilian.
