A group of Awka indigenes has described Austin Ndigwe, who as traditional ruler of Awka, Anambra State demanded an apology within seven days from former First Lady of Anambra State, Ebelechukwu Obiano, over her altercation with wife of former Biafran leader, Bianca Odimegwu-Ojukwu, as an impostor who has nothing to do with the leadership of the community.
The group, under the aegis of Concerned Sons and Daughters of Awka – Home and Away, accused Ndigwe of denigrating “the custom and tradition of Awka by presenting himself as regent when the world knows of the continued reign of HRH Igwe Gibson Nwosu, the Eze-Uzu of Awka.”
The statement issued after he issued the threat against Mrs Obiano as the traditional ruler of Awka, the group accused him of being a political merchant who has been dabbling into politics and blackmail.
According to the statement titled ‘Disclaimer,’ “We the sons and daughters of the ancient town of Awka, which hosts the capital of the State of Anambra, have read with concern, the publication making the rounds in the media, purportedly issued by the regent of Awka and wish to clarify the state of affairs so as not to convolute the chronology of events and state of affairs bin Awka especially as it relates to the Regent.
“Let it be known to all and sundry that there is no regent in Awka who is known and called His Imperial Majesty. Whoever bear such title is an impostor as such does not exist in our lexicon. We make quick to mention that one Augustine Ndigwe, who was was a local operator and land grabber, recently aroused concern when he suddenly began to parade himself as the regent of Awka.
“Like the proverbial cock which grew teeth overnight, the said Augustine Ndigwe in an effort to force himself on Awka, suddenly began to denigrate the custom and tradition of Awka by presenting himself as regent when the world knows of the continued reign of HRH Igwe Gibson Nwosu, the Eze-Uzu of Awka.
“Of course, we know Augustine Ndigwe as a charlatan by any measure. He survives on the crumbs from the tables of the extremely successful people around some of whom he later turns around to cheat, defame and backstab. An acclaimed blackmailer!
“He openly challenged Willie Obiano during his recently ended tenure resulting in the disclaimer, which Anambra State Govt published on him.
“In the lead up to the November 6, 2021, election in Anambra, he romanced Andy Ubah and caressed APC believing that their rigging machine had been so empowered that it would “win” as Andy Ubah and his inglorious inglorious team had planned.
“In a show of shame at the time, Austin Ndigwe gave Andy Ubah what he called the key to the Capital of Anambra State, which in his mind’s eye was the ultimate gift he could, as the regent of Awka, give his guest. These were all done to humiliate, discredit and demarket APGA and Chukwuma Soludo.
“Fortunately for Anambra, it entirely backfired as APGA and Soludo won the election very convincingly.
Having lost out in the poorly conceived romance with APC, and faced with the obvious consequences of failure, Augustine quickly thought of a strategy to launder himself and represent himself to the winning team, Soludo and APGA. And so, his recent attacks on disgraced Ebele Obiano and his hubby.
“Augustine conveniently forgot that such strategy is unlikely to impact on the deep thinking and decently mannered Chukwuma Soludo, who will neither recognize nor uphold him or such level of shenanigan in any circumstances. Augustine should know better or labour to find out the quality and character of the new Governor. He obviously acted too quickly and as often the case, ignorantly.
“Soludo is far ahead of such shenanigan. He will not consider not to talk of entertain such low life or his antics. Augustine Ndigwe has been widely discredited and disclaimed so has no moral content or basis to act for such deft move at this auspicious moment. The world knows what he is and what he represents so his type isn’t found or welcomed in the mist of fit and proper persons.
“We advise APGA structure and Governor C.C. Soludo in particular, to be cautious in dealing with such questionable characters. Also, we use this medium to reiterate that Awka has a legitimate regent, whose reign is continuing and legally recognized. And the regent is no other than HRH Igwe Gibson Nwosu, Eze-Uzu of Awka.”
