Nigeria: Terrorists Kill Teacher, 4 Others, Abduct 16 In Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna State

Terrorists continued their reign of terror in Layin Lasan Tabanni road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, killing five persons, including a teacher

The terrorists also abducted 16 people at Dogon Dawa, Layin Mahuta and Tabanni villages in the Eastern part of Birnin Gwari LGA.

Chairman of the Birnin Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari said in a statement on Sunday that the incidents took place at different times between March 14 and 19.

The group said that on March 14, one Haruna Tanko Dogon Dawa and two others were murdered by the terrorists along the Dogon Dawa- Zaria road.

“Eight other people were abducted on the same route. At Layin Mahuta (Tabanni), one Abdullahi Abubakar, a school teacher, was killed along the Layin Lasan’ Tabanni road on March 16.

“On March 17, a 70-year-old man was killed and seven women abducted at Layin Mahuta Tabanni. Two other people were abducted at old Tabanni,” Nagwari said.

The chairman added that in the Randagi area, terrorists have released 32 people out of the 46 abducted three weeks ago at Unguwar Bula and Ijinga after paying N16million ransom. 

He urged security personnel to always respond to distress calls around Dogon Dawa, Kuyello, Tabanni, Kutemashi wards in Birnin Gwari.

However, the local government chairperson, Hajiya Ummah K. Ahmed, who confirmed the killing of the teacher and the injury of one other, said she was not “aware of the other incidents and abductions the group mentioned.”
