PDP “Deliberately Inciting Chaos, Unrest” Against President Buhari, Slams Calls For Protest Against Hardship In Nigeria – Buhari Media Organisation

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) on Tuesday accused the leading opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of deliberately inciting Nigerians against the person and government of President Muhammadu Buhari “in its desperation for power.”

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, the pro-Buhari group said the reference by the former ruling party to the EndSARS protest is a clear indication of its intention.

According to BMO, “we have noticed how the opposition Peoples Democratic Party is surreptitiously laying the groundwork for something close to what the Department of State Security DSS recently raised the alarm on. It is nothing but a poorly disguised effort to incite a section of the country against the government, under the guise of speaking up on what it considered as challenges that needed to be addressed by the President.

“We find it ridiculous that PDP referenced the EndSARS protest which many believe had the imprint of the opposition, especially as known members of the party and their associates hijacked it at a point to push for regine change. So it is against this backdrop that we view the party’s statement as a mischievous call to arm in  order to create a crisis situation in the land.”

Noting that the leading opposition party is playing to the gallery on issues that the Buhari administration was making conscious efforts to resolve, the group stated: “Even at a time that the world is experiencing challenging situations, President Buhari issued an apology through his spokesman Garba Shehu on the lingering fuel situation as well as power shortage and also assured Nigerians that an action plan has been agreed upon with independent marketers to address the scarcity of fuel.

“And indeed we make bold to say that this unusual situation is being addressed with sufficient fuel supplies in some States,  compared to what we saw in recent weeks. This is so different from what Nigerians used to experience in the PDP years when long fuel queues were a permanent landmark in the country.

“We also want to remind the new PDP leadership that in 2010 alone, Nigeria had 42 recorded grid collapses, but unlike that era the Buhari administration is not acting helpless. The President has not only identified the problem as a ‘dip in hydroelectric generation due to seasonal pressures alongside technical and supply problems at thermal stations,’ he also gave his words on a resolution that will guarantee sufficient power flows into the national grid.

“However, PDP needs to know that Nigerians are wiser and are aware of the global situation so they won’t allow themselves to be used by a party that has continued to show that it has nothing to offer as an opposition party, just like it was clueless as a ruling party.”

It therefore urged Nigerians to trust in President Buhari’s ability to live up to his promise of rectifying the fuel and electricity situation.
