Governor Soludo Condemns Kidnapping Of His Townsman/Anambra Lawmaker, His Campaign Director, Worries Over Sporadic Attacks

The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has condemned the abduction of his townsman and the member representing the Aguata Constituency II at the State House of Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye.

The Governor also condemned the kidnapping of Okoye’s Campaign Director, Cyril Chiegboka.

Both men were kidnapped on Sunday evening while returning from a function and no word has been heard from their kidnappers since then.

Calling for their immediate release, the Governor, in a press statement in Awka on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, also expressed deep worry over the spate of attacks carried out across the State between Sunday and Monday.

He frowned on the increasing rate of insecurity across the State in recent times, lamenting that it was happening at a period when his government was already reaching out to critical stakeholders for the restoration of peace and security to the state.

He restated that the current spike in cases of kidnapping and killing of innocent citizens undermined the sanctity of human lives and no one or group had the right to take human life with such gross impunity.

Soludo sympathised with the families of those who had directly or indirectly lost their loved ones and re-assured that the State government was doing everything possible with the security agencies to restore peace and security in the State in accordance with the law.
