Insecurity: Defend Yourselves, “From Now On, It Is Fire For Fire,” Pastor Adeboye Tells Nigerian Christians

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has spoken forcefully on the unending insecurity in Nigeria, saying that it is now in the hands of the Children of God to defend themselves.

Pastor Adeboye, who spoke during the church’s July 2022 Holy Ghost Service which ended on Saturday along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway but carried simultaneously live across media platforms, said “from now on, going to be fire for fire.”

But he was not specific on the form of defence Christians should use.

Already, Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has started the implementation of a policy of arming residents of the State to arm and defend themselves against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements.

The highly respected cleric stated that there is nowhere in the Holy Bible where God said a child of God should not defend himself or herself, adding that when God is silent, it simply means it is now the responsibility of his children to act.

Adeboye stated that “some jokers said Churches should not open for three months. Who is your Commander? God of Boko Haram? Let the devil try any nonsense, from now on it is going to be fire for fire.

“I don’t want to say much because I know some people may want to twist it. But I have searched the Bible from cover to cover and there is nowhere in the Bible where God said a child of God cannot defend himself. If you find the place, let me know. He said that if they slap you on the right cheek turn left. He said that one. If they now slap the left what did he say? When God is silent, do you know the meaning of that? It simply means over to you.”

The cleric, however added a caveat: “I am only talking to my children,only my children come to the Holy Ghost Service.”
