Terrorists Surround, Bomb Kuje Prison Abuja In Attempted Jailbreak

A group of terrorists on Tuesday night attacked the Kuje Medium Custodial Centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with bombs and other weapons in an apparent move to gain entry into the facility and free some of its members.

Sources said that a high calibre bomb first went off at about 10:25pm followed by a second and third blasts as well as sporadic gunshots around the prison facility.

The bombings and shootings threw the residents into panic mode.

A source noted that the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) had earlier received intelligence reports that one of its facilities could come under attacks.

The situation at the prison is still sketchy as the NCoS has not issued a statement nor is any of its officials picking telephone calls.

And movement is restricted as people are wary of the area because of the uncertainty of the situation on ground.
