Nigeria Sets New African Record, Wins Gold In Women’s 4×100m Relay In Commonwealth Games

  • Won by quartet of Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Grace Nwokocha

Nigeria’s quartet of Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Grace Nwokocha set a new African record with a time of 42.10 seconds on Sunday afternoon as they won the gold medal in the women’s 4×100 meters relay at the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Birmingham.

The victory for Nigeria comes a few minutes after Amusan also won the gold medal and set a Commonwealth Games record in the women’s 100m hurdles.

The reigning World Athletics Champion and record holder successfully defended her title as she ended the race in 12.30 seconds to also set a new games record.
