General Fred Chijuka, Legendary Defence Spokesperson Visits Army Headquarters Abuja

Legendary Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Fred Chijuka (rdt) on Tuesday visited Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja.

General Chijuka’s visit was announced in a Facebook post by former Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman (rtd).

In the post titled ‘BRIGADIER GENERAL FB CHIJUKA (RTD) VISITS THE ARMY HEADQUARTERS’: “It was a great and historic day yesterday, Tuesday 9th August 2022, at the Army Headquarters, especially for the officers, soldiers and civilian staff of the Directorate of Army Public Relations, when one of the highly respected retired military officers and a former Director of Army Public Relations and pioneer Director of Defence Information, and an octogenarian, Brigadier General Fredrick Bini Chijuka (retired) came calling.

“While at the Army Headquarters he paid an office call on the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya and also visited the Directorate of Army Public Relations.

“He was one of the trailblazers in public relations practice in the military and the first to attain the rank of a Brigadier in the Public Relations Directorate.

“He is someone many of us looked up to as he practised public relations at the most trying times of military regimes in the 1980s and 1990s before he voluntarily retired from the Army in 1996.

“Veteran public relations practitioners and journalists would attest to his professionalism, skills and determination.”
