Bandits have shot dead one and set free 12 farmers they abducted at Kutunku and Gasakpa communities in Gurdi Ward of Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The bandits had on Saturday, September, 3, 2022, killed one and abducted 13 farmers from the communities.

A relation of one of the released farmers, Shuaibu Ibrahim, said, “They collected N8m, two bags of rice, wine and drugs before they released 12 of them, but unfortunately, one of the victims was killed in the bush.”

He said the abducted victims were released on Thursday evening at a forest in Niger State which shared border with the FCT, adding that the corpse of the slain victim had been conveyed back home and buried.

Another set of bandits also on Sunday attacked residents of Ikwa village near Zuba in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, stabbed two persons and dispossessed residents of their valuables.

A resident, Adamu Salihu, said the incident happened around 2am when the bandits, who were scouting for food and other valuables as they wielded knives, cutlasses and other weapons, attacked some houses.

He said they invaded the house of a prominent indigene of the area, Alhaji Yahaya Salihu Kuyambana, stabbed two of his sons, Sa’adu Yahaya and Faisal Yahaya, with knives when they tried to prevent them from dispossessing members of the household of their valuables.

He further said the bandits also invaded some houses and stole phones, electronics and money.
