A resident, Garba Salihu, said, “At about 11pm on Saturday I started hearing gunshots in my neighbour’s house. I suspected they were kidnappers so I abandoned my room and hid in the bathroom.”

According to him, some armed gang also cordoned off the police out post in the community, while shooting into the air to scare the police men from engaging them.
