Nigerian Army Deserter and Deputy Commander of Imo State IPOB/ESN Arrested At Father’s Burial

Nigerian Army deserter and Deputy Commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN), Lance Corporal Nwagu Chiwendu has been arrested.

Sources confirmed that Chiwendu, with service number 13NA/70/9974, served with the Nigerian Army Engineers Corps. He was arrested on Monday during his father’s burial at Mbaise.

The sources noted that the soldier deserted the Army and joined the ESN in January 2021.

According to the source, “Lance Corporal Nwagu Chiwendu was ESN’s main trainer in weapon handling and rose to become the second-in-command to Temple who is now the leader of the group in Imo State.

“He served on Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and thus have operational experience. He was arrested yesterday (Monday) during the burial of his father at Mbaise.”

The source noted that the Lance Corporal took them to their camp on Monday night.

Already, the source stated that “he has confessed to killing former Political Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, who was shot dead in Imo State.

“He has also confirmed that his camp is responsible for kidnapping two expatriates along Owerri-Okigwe Road and the killing of two Police Inspectors escorting them. They are the ones that also killed our soldier in the same location and the burning of our Hilux last week. They equally participated in the attack on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Owerri.”

The source confirmed that Lance Corporal Chiwendu is currently with the Police.
