Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed disciple of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday announced a two-day sit-at-home in Southeast Nigeria.
Ekpa, who is the leader of IPOB ‘AUtopilot’ group, self-acclaimed Biafra Spokesperson, said that the fresh sit-at-home is to ensure the release of Kanu.
According to the tweet: “Based on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s current health condition, the Court of Appeal judgment discharging him, Umuahia court judgement and Gov Soludo’s recent call for his release, we are giving the FGN between now and 22nd of January 2023 to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“Failure to do that, the entire land of Biafra will be locked down on 23rd and 24th of January 2023 in protest.”
Ekpa, who is active on social media with his push for Biafra, had declared a five-day sit-at-home beginning from Friday December 9 to 14th, a move that was opposed by IPOB, which described him as a “faceless idiot” working for forces against the realisation of Biafra project.IPOB noted that by ordering the sit-at-home, Ekpa wanted to unleash hardship on the people of the area under the guise of fighting for Biafra, so that the people of the South East would reject the agitation.
Initially, the sit-at-home order was ignored but it turned bloody as residents of the South East region were murdered by gunmen loyal to Ekpa who were enforcing the order.
The Diaspora-based factional separatist leader and his supporters are insisting that there will be no election in southeast Nigeria in February and March.
According to them, “ending Nigeria” is a task that must be done by 2023.
