Buhari Commiserates With Late General Abacha’s Family Over Death Of Abdullahi

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday extended his “heartfelt condolences to the former First Lady, Marayam Abacha, and family on the death of their son, Abdullahi.”

According to a statement by Presidential Spokesperson, Garba Shehu, “the President’s prayers and thoughts are with the family of Abacha as they grieve the passing of the young Abdullahi.

“The President prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort for those who mourn.”

Abdullahi is one of the sons of the late former Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.

The deceased’s sister, Gumsu Sani Abacha, who first broke the sad news in a Twitter post, confirmed that her brother died in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. I lost my younger brother Abdullahi Sani Abacha. He died in his sleep. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul firdous, Ameen. Please include him in your prayers,” she wrote.

Abacha ruled as the military head of state after seizing power in 1993. He remained in office till he died in June 1998.
