Ekiti Man Remanded For Selling Dad To Ritualist For N1.8 Million

Three persons who kidnapped and killed an 82-year-old man, Michael Obasuyi, have been remanded at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, by a magistrate’s court sitting in Ado-Ekiti.

The Magistrate, Bankole Okuwasanmi, ordered that the suspects, Sunday Obasuyi (42), son of the deceased; Akinniyi (51) and Bobafe Sunday (51), be remanded pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA, and that his corpse was, some weeks, later discovered in a shallow grave.

The prosecutor further alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8 million to the third defendant, Sunday, who was an herbalist.

He noted that the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
