A man has waybill his wife’s corpse into a Dana’s vehicle filled with tomatoes meant for sale to Imo State, for burial.

The deceased husband, Mr. Okwara told Global Upfront Newspapers (GUN) on the circumstances he found himself that made him waybill his wife’s corpse to Umuodunworie Amaulumbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State on March 25, 2023.

Okwara told GUN at his residence in Gwazunu Suleja, Niger State that his his wife, late Mrs. Theresa Okwara, died on March 2, 2023, after a brief illness and he had no money to hire an ambulance to take her corpse to Imo State for burial as required by her family.

” I contacted the luxurious park if her corpse can be waybill, they said I did not come early enough to arrange the limit of passengers and luggage bags the company will carry.

“I also contacted the vehicles that carry yams to supply to South East traders but before I arrived, there was no vehicle on ground as all of them has taken off at night.

“Only the Dana Vehicles that carry tomatoes agreed to carry her corpse after much pleading. The Hausa driver accepted and arranged her corpse in between the baskets of tomatoes at the rate of (N8,000 (eight thousand Naira).”

When asked why he did not bury her in Suleja instead of the undignified waybill inside vehicle fpacked full with tomatoes, he said his wife’s family wants her corpse back home and threatened that if I bury their sister in Suleja or any place outside their ancestral home, I’ll exhume the corpse and rebury her in their hometown.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the District head of Gwazunu, Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi, told Global Upfront Newspapers that they had to contribute to assist the corpse to leave Suleja by any means for burial in Imo State as demanded by her family.
