Tinubu’s Former Chief Security Officer, Egbetokun, Appointed DIG FCID As IGP Deploys 36 Commissioners Of Police

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on Friday approved the appointment of the recently promoted Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police, Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, as the DIG in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Adeolu was until the appointment the supervising DIG for the South-West Geo-Political Zone. In 1999, he was appointed Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Governor of Lagos State and President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Born on Sept. 4, 1964 in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Egbetokun enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

In 1999, he was appointed Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu.

He served as the Commander, Rapid Response Squad, Lagos, Squadron Commander, Mopol 5, Benin, Benin City, Officer-in-Charge, Anti-Fraud Unit, FCT Command, Abuja; Chief Superintendent of Police, Administration, Lagos State Command Head Quarters, Ikeja; Area Commander, Osogbo, Osun State Command; and Area Commander, Gusau, Zamfara State Command, among others.

He was Commissioner of Police (CP) Kwara State and until his recent promotion the AIG in charge of Zone 7 Abuja comprising the FCT and Niger State.

Egbetokun graduated from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, with Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in June 1987; and lectured Mathematics briefly at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, before his enlistment into the Police Force.

His other academic qualifications include MSC Engineering Analysis, also from the University of Lagos, Akoka, 1996; Post-Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, 2000; and an MBA from Lagos State University, Ojo, 2004.

A 1987 graduate of Mathematics from University of Lagos (UNILAG), Egbetokun lectured Mathematics briefly at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, before his enlistment into the police.

He also holds MSc Engineering Analysis from UNILAG, Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, and MBA from Lagos State University, Ojo.

A statement by Force Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, also said that the IGP has approved the posting/redeployment of thirty-six (36) Commissioners of Police to various Commands and Formations.

They include:

iii. CP Railway Lagos                 –       CP Emuobo F. Ekokotu, fdc

v.   CP General Investigations FCID Abuja – CP Salman Dogo Garba

vi. CP PAP Western Lagos                  – CP Dungus Ali Monguno

vii.       CP Police Mobile Force FHQ      –       CP Audu Ali Dabigi

According to the statement: “The Inspector-General of Police has instructed all newly posted and redeployed officers to strive to ensure that their Commands, Formations, and Departments comply with the Police Reform mandate.

“He also tasked them to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“The posting is with immediate effect.”
