Wike Contributed To My Presidential Victory As “A Man Of Great Integrity,” Says Tinubu

– Says, as President, I won’t refund cost of constructing flyovers to Rivers State

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday described Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as “a man of great integrity” who contributed to his victory at the February 25 Presidential election.

Tinubu, who spoke on Wednesday while commissioning the Rumuokwuta/Rumuola flyover in Port Harcourt, explained that Wike’s insistence that the Presidency must return to the Southern party of the country was part of the factor that guaranteed his victory.

The former Lagos State Governor said that despite the rumours and speculation against him during the electioneering season, Wike stood by his conviction.

According to him: “Nyesom, I say thank you for your contribution to my victory. I couldn’t have done this without some structural support. In Wike, I see a man of principle.

“He took a good stand that the presidency must return to the South and he had the courage to stand by his conviction not minding those against him.

“Wike is indeed a man of great integrity, he did not choose to serve his own interests but rather the internet of the nation. You promoted unity, you promoted fairness.

“There was so much gossip and speculation but you stood your ground.”

Meanwhile, Tinubu has said he will not refund the cost of the 12 flyovers constructed on federal government’s road by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Wike had during his speech appealed to the President-elect to refund to Rivers State the cost of the projects done on the federal government’s road when he is sworn-in as President on May 29.

The Governor said a letter requesting for the refund “has already been prepared” for the incoming Governor of the State, Siminialaye Fubara, which he will sign on assumption of office, asking the President to approve the refund.

But responding to Wike’s demands, Tinubu said he owed the Governor nothing, noting, after all, the roads were being used by Rivers people.

He said, “the 12 flyovers and the demands you made for refund l, I owe you nothing, it’s your road. You can’t chuckle at me and make a demand. You are the one using the road. I commend your effort. You have to lobby me.”
