Remains Of Late Brigadier General Ochagwuba Laid To Rest In Otukpo, Benue Staff As COAS, Senior Officers, Sympathizers Pay Glowing Tribute

The remains of the Late Commandant Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information, (NASPRI) Brigadier General Omale Abraham Ochagwuba was laid to rest in his hometown, Otukpo, Benue State. The Senior Officer passed away in Lagos after a brief illness on 26th June, 2023.

Reading the Funeral Oration, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Taoreed Lagbaja who was represented by Commander Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Sunday Igbinomwanhva described the late Ochagwuba as a brilliant, diligent, resourceful, and meticulous senior officer, with vast experience and the ability to impart knowledge with an overwhelming moral standard.

He eulogized the senior officer for his sterling qualities and immeasurable contributions to the Corps of Public Relations, the Nigerian Army and the Nation as a whole.

He said the late senior officer served the Army in different capacities and contributed greatly to the development of the service, especially the Directorate of Army Public Relations.

The burial rites of the late Ochagwuba commenced with a church service at St Vianney Catholic Church, ASA, Oturkpo Local Government Area of Benue State before the final interment. Earlier at the Requiem mass, the officiating priest, Reverend Father Daniel Ujah admonished the living to be mindful of their earthly sojourn and live rightly, noting that; death is a universal reality that surpasses what science can unravel.

Reading from the Bible passages at the funeral, the clergy stated that there is time for everything under the earth while calling on Christians to be prepared at all times and live a righteous life, adding that those that died in the Lord will live forever.

He eulogizes the good deeds of the deceased officer, describing him as a dedicated and humble Christian. He reminded the Christians that death is inevitable and urged everyone to live a faithful life and desist from vices that could jeopardize their heavenly race.

The clergy, commensurate with the Nigerian Army, the Church, and the bereaved family, prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

Earlier, a service of Songs was conducted on Thursday 27 June 2023 at the deceased’s residence in Abuja where senior officers, soldiers, colleagues, and sympathizers paid a glowing tribute to the deceased senior officer. Late Brigadier General Omale Abraham Ochagwuba was the 6th Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information, Lagos.

He took over from his predecessor in September 2022. His exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the field of public relations have left an indelible mark on the Nigerian Army and the entire public relations community. Brigadier General Abraham Ochagwuba proved his mettle as a professional soldier while in service and held several appointments.

The burial ceremony had in attendance, the Representative of the Chief of Army Staff, Major General, Major General Sunday Igbinomwanhva, former Directors of Army Public Relations, senior officers both serving and retired, members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, deceased coursemates, deceased immediate family members, friends, and a host of other sympathizers.
