Panic, Fear Grips Kano Over Sack Of Governor Yusuf Of NNPP

Panic and fears have gripped residents of Kano following the sacking of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party by the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

Even though few people were granted access to the judgment verdict which was delivered via Zoom and there was no live telecast, news of the sack of Governor Yusuf, a member of the popular Kwankwasiya Movement, has started getting to the residents.

Already, traders have started locking their shops in Kano major markets and roadside shops and people are rushing home.

In the same vein, both public and private offices are being closed and people are scamepering to find ways and means to their homes before crowds start massing in celebration of or protest against the judgment.

The tribunal had ordered the withdrawal of certificate of return from Governor Yusuf and directed that a new one should be issued to the All Progressives Congress Governorship Candidate, Nasiru Gawuna.

Kano ordinarily is home to violent protests.
