Tinubu Condoles With Canadian Govt And Victims Of Abuja Embassy Fire Incident

  • Sources confirmed that two technical personnel died while one was severely injured as a result of the explosion

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sympathy with the Canadian government, the diplomatic community, and all persons affected by a fire incident which occurred on Monday at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja.

The High Commission of Canada in Nigeria is situated at 13010G, Palm Close, Diplomatic Drive, Central Business District in Abuja. It is opposite Ship House, Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence Headquarters and adjacent the Chinese and Ghanaian embassies, Abuja.

Part of the Canadian High Commission was razed down by its power generating plant during repairs killing two persons that were part of the technical crew while one person escaped.

Others were blown out of the powerhouse due to the force of the sudden fire explosion.

A statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) said President Tinubu “assures the Canadian authorities of the full support of the Nigerian government in the aid of diplomatic and local staff of the High Commission who were particularly affected by the incident.

“President Tinubu prays for the repose of the departed souls and wishes all injured persons a rapid and full recovery.”
