- Says His Governorship Ambition Dead On Arrival
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, APC Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial zone at the National Assembly, of diverting the zone’s share of Federal government palliatives and Constituency Projects’ Fund to personal use and aggrandizement.
PDP Vice Chairman for Anambra South, Comrade Ebere Onunkwo (Ikenga Umuchu), who spoke on the development, wondered why Ubah found it so convenient to divert palliatives and constituency funds provided by the Federal government to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on the people, among others, but rather used it for personal purposes including the funding of his APC Colloquium and Empowerment.
According to Onunkwo: ‘Every Senator at the National Assembly received Federal government palliatives and Constituency Projects Fund on behalf of their Senatorial zones. But while most other Senators delivered and shared the items to their people, nothing was heard from Senator Ubah. All enquiry to the Senator from the constituents as to the position of their palliatives met with deaf ears.’
Onunkwo stated that the realization that the said palliatives have now been deployed by Senator Ubah for his personal political project termed, ‘APC Colloquium and Empowerment’ has sent cold shivers down the spines of the people of Anambra South.
The PDP Anambra South Chairman lamented: ‘It is heart wrenching that nearly half a billion naira of Anambra South Constituency Project funds was wasted by Senator Ubah to organize the charade where payment was made for hundreds of flight tickets and hotel accommodation bookings for APC stakeholders who ended up not attending the event, thereby leaving the Anaedo Hall venue virtually empty, to the disappointment of his special guests led by the APC National chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
‘It is obvious that Senator Ubah has sacrificed the welfare of our people on the altar of his Governorship ambition.
‘The current effort by Ifeanyi Ubah to domesticate the failure of APC in Anambra State by dreaming of contesting for the State Governorship slot, is therefore dead on arrival.
‘Senator Ubah is advised to concentrate on remedying his Senatorial representation of Anambra South Zone where his performance over the past five years have been woeful, with no single meaningful Federal infrastructure in the zone that can be traced to his effort
